Böblingen, June 23, 2023 - Yesterday, Dr. Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Tourism of the State of Baden-Württemberg, visited PENTANOVA Conveyor Systems GmbH at its headquarters in Böblingen. The agenda included exciting insights into the activities and promising projects of the young In addition to exciting insights into the activities and promising projects of the young, up-and-coming company, the agenda also included an exchange on practice-oriented topics, such as the shortage of skilled workers, which small companies in particular have to contend with.
Accompanied by FDP member of the state parliament (LA) Hans Dieter Scheerer (Böblingen district), State Secretary (StS) Rapp was able to get an idea of the company's broad portfolio. This includes, among other things, electrified rail systems, floor conveyor technology, driverless transport systems, and the realization of overall intralogistics solutions as a general contractor. "The PENTANOVA CS Group successfully implements projects on an international level with around 180 employees in seven countries. Our flat hierarchies also enable us to drive developments forward more quickly and bring them to market," explains Sebastiano Sardo, CEO of the PENTANOVA CS Group.
These developments, which form the basis for further healthy company growth and thus the long-term preservation of jobs in the region, were also the focus of the visit by StS Rapp and LA Scheerer. The guests were impressed by the battery-powered electrified monorail system, with which PENTANOVA CS GmbH enables plant operators to use self-generated energy in their production and logistics facilities for the first time. A novelty in the industry, with which the company aroused great interest among trade visitors at the world-renowned industry trade fair LogiMAT in Stuttgart at the end of April. "The innovative strength of the predominantly medium-sized industrial companies in Baden-Württemberg is the decisive factor that shapes the business location so sustainably and ensures prosperity in the area. With new products and solutions, companies like PENTANOVA CS GmbH are facing the current transformation challenges that come with the demand for more digitalization and more sustainability in the applications of their customers worldwide," says StS Rapp. Also on the agenda was an exchange between policy makers and practitioners on the important topic of a shortage of skilled workers, which is a daily concern for small and medium-sized companies. "More and more companies are urgently looking for suitable skilled workers. It is of great importance to attract well-qualified and dedicated experts for the many challenging tasks throughout our economy. These skilled workers are needed to successfully meet the key challenges associated with demographics, digitalization and defossilization. The state supports companies in finding suitable skilled workers and retaining them over the long term. Our support and funding programs cover a wide range of measures, from training and professional development to our Welcome Centers and the promotion of regional alliances of skilled workers. Training and continuing education are geared to technological and demographic changes. It is important to promote the labor force participation of underrepresented groups and for Baden-Württemberg to position itself as an attractive location with good employment opportunities and to develop a strong appeal to skilled workers from Germany and abroad. A welcoming culture that is lived out in companies and society is of great importance in the competition for international skilled workers," adds Rapp.
